I am a User Experience (UX) Designer currently working for FamilySearch.org. People ask me if I worked on the new FamilySearch.org website but I did not. While new.FamilySearch.org has not fully finished rolling out yet, it was completed shortly before I joined the organization. If you want to see something I have worked on lately, try visiting labs.FamilySearch.org.

I was born and raised in San Jose, California but it has been a while since I last lived there. Currently I live in the city of North Salt Lake which is a suburb of Salt Lake City. Sometimes when I tell people I live in North Salt Lake, they think I mean the northern part of Salt Lake City. Actually, North Salt Lake and Salt Lake City are in two different counties. North Salt Lake is almost like an annex to the city of Bountiful, Utah, at least from my newb, outsider’s perspective. I really enjoy living in North Salt Lake even when it snows and my drive down the hill feels a bit like a bobsled run.

Prior to living in my current location, I spent some years in a place called Surprise, Arizona. Yes, that is the real name. Arizona is hot. Until you experience an Arizona summer, all 7-8 months of it, I do not think you can truly appreciate this statement. Even so, sometimes I do miss it. I do not miss my old commute, but I do miss the good folks of Unicon.

I think people generally suck, at least on the internet. I think the general anonymity that the internet offers causes people to behave differently than they do with people in the real world. I think people say things to people on the web that they generally would not say to a person, say, that is sitting next to them in a public park. I am trying to not be one of those people.

I am an aspiring film maker. No, I do not have any “films” or “reels” yet. Watch this space. My day is coming.
